We The Accused

What’s in a word?
A lot can be conveyed by the words we choose to describe things.
Some words carry more emotional impact than others, and some words convey pictures into our heads.
One of these words is the word Accused. It immediately implies another word…Guilt
We get a mental picture of a prisoner standing head bowed in the dock of a court of Law.
Why is that person there? They are there, because they are suspected of some Criminal activity!
People being people, will automatically make the connection that this person is at the very least suspected with good reason of having actually committed the offence. After all they wouldn’t be where they are unless there was some good reason they were under suspicion, would they?
The old adage of ‘There is no smoke without fire’ immediately comes to mind.
At this stage in proceedings, Guilt has not been proven, but there is a strong possibility that it soon will be!

Yet this word Accused Is commonly found as the word of choice to be bandied about by our media when referring to the SNP in particular and Nationalism in general.

On a quick google search of the words ‘SNP Accused’ , we see in just 0.11 of a second 505,000 references to it!
Over half a million SNP Accused headlines.

The mere fact that the SNP is since May of this year the first majority Scottish Government since the advent of Devolution has barely slowed the frequency of such usage.
What does this say about our Government? What does this imply about all of the people who voted so overwhelmingly for the SNP back in May?
Are our Government suspected Crooks? Are we by supporting them accessories to a whole series of criminal acts?
The usage of an other popular word, Separatists, portraying those in favour of Scots Independence as Marriage breakers not only compounds this impression of being criminals, but also immoral criminals in the terms of 19th Century morality where Divorce was frowned upon!
There is no other party,Government, or people who are so roundly condemned by its Countries Media anywhere In the World!

If you do a google search for  Westminster Accused, Labour Accused, Conservatives Accused, Liberals Accused you will get a grand total of around 56,000 results combined. One tenth of SNP Accused!

The only conclusion I can reach Is that we supporters of Scots Autonomy must be the most despicable people on earth!!
How Dare we be charged with the most Criminal of Offences of wanting to make our own decisions for ourselves!

I plead Guilty your Honour!

About auldacquaintance

I am not a member of any political party. I am however a strong supporter of Scots Independence. Any views which I express in this Blog are purely my own. This Blog intends to be a place where I will be putting my views on Scots Independence. It will primarily concern itself with the upcoming Referendum In Scotland. However It will also be somewhat diverse in the range of day to day issues which are evident to me in modern day Scotland. Not all of it will be political, and indeed may take me off into avenues I am not even aware of yet. Please come and join in on this journey, and any comments are welcome provided they are not abusive! All the best from a new acquaintance! Rod

    Good luck with your blog.

    • Thank You hiorta. Mine will just be one more voice in the Internet wilderness, but I do hope It will help Scots and Scotland to reassert ourselves.
It will be a long haul, but we have had hundreds of years of waiting. So a few more will be worth it, if we collectively have the belief in ourselves to finally break free from our self imposed shackles.

It may not be too long a haul, but we’d best assume it will be. Oppressors dont like bad publicity, ridicule and getting laughed at.
We can oblige in most categories.
