So here we are, we have arrived safely in 2012. We have done the looking back thing, with particular glowing over May 2011,and the year of Salmond and the ScotNat.
We of Independent mind have also taken much pleasure over the utter confusion and disarray of the BritNat Unionist parties, and their media cronies and supporters. There is a fair modicum of pleasure to be had from seeing pompous self opinionated jackasses being brought down to earth with a massive bump.
However much we have enjoyed the spectacle,we cannot continue gloating over their stranded gold fish impersonations, nor can can we afford to be complacent as we continue to view their headless chicken performances, as they spin around in ever more crazy circles trying to find obstacles for us to trip over. There is much more to play for,and a much greater prize still to be won.We might have the tide flowing strongly with us at present, but It will not always flow so favourably for us, nor will the FUDS remain entirely rudderless. We therefore need to plan ahead, and we need to keep our concentration firmly on the finishing line.
We also need to keep working ever harder to bring more onto our side, particularly initially with the Council Elections in May next in our sights. These elections could well be the tipping point where the momentum towards Independence becomes unstoppable. If the SNP repeat their Holyrood Tsunami with a Council Landslide, the Independence movement will have full control over every aspect of the Scottish political map. Even so,such a remarkable position would still leave much yet to be done. It will not be until the day after the Independence referendum that we will know for sure If we have won Gold, or If we have fallen at the final hurdle.
So what over the coming year can we expect from the Unionists?
I predict much more of the same scare stories they have always produced. It is a tactic which has served them well over centuries, and one which they will not lightly let go. They have managed time and again not only to convince the Scots people that Scotland is weak and ineffectual, but also that the people themselves are too!
They have created and maintained this Dependency myth, where Scotland is dependent on London Westminster rule for its survival in this Big Bad world, and ensured that any positive stories have been trashed as nonsense. If they have not been able to trash a positive story, they have lied outright or kept it well hidden from public knowledge. The McCrone Report locked up for 30years is the prime example of such outrageous deception, but is by no means alone.
Under Successive Labour and Tory governments they have colluded to deceive, lie and misappropriate wealth from Scotland and its people.
From Thatcher to Major,to Blair, to Brown, to Cameron, as they have passed the reins to each other, the one thing they all had in common, was don’t tell the Scots the Truth!
Every single one of these Westminster Governments have asset stripped Scotland whenever they could, and they asset stripped plenty! From the Steel Industry under Thatcher to the Closure of Air Bases and Coastguard Stations under Cameron. Each and every one of them have conspired to keep Scotland as weak as they could, each and every one of them have directed Billions of pounds of Scots Wealth to London.
We get so used to hearing figures in Billions that we can’t really imagine what a Billion is. Only one Billion is beyond most peoples comprehension in real terms, so let me try to explain a Billion in terms we can individually understand.
A Billion Seconds is 31.7 years. So a Billion seconds ago it was 1981,and we had Thatcher! If I were to count to a Billion, It would take me to 2043 before I had achieved the task, counting every second and never having any sleep.
A Billion minutes ago we had the Birth of Jesus!
A Billion hours ago, we were in the Early Stone Age!
Now, with these figures in mind, consider that Scotlands Oil Industry alone sends One Billion pounds a Month to London. 12Billion a year!
The Unionist Governments still tell us that our Oil is running out, but have suddenly decided to release 140 exploration licences they have been sitting on for decades. Why have they released them now? Why but to strip as much of Scotlands wealth as they still can, before we head to Independence.
I haven’t even counted the Trillions over the years, contributed by Scotlands Financial Sector, one of the largest in the world. And I am not just talking about the Banks! Nor am I looking at other Industries like the Tourist Industry, or Whisky Industry. Nor even considered the next Gold Mine, the Renewable Energy Industry.
Now consider why Brown and Cameron both put the kibosh on ground breaking Carbon Storage plants, at Peterhead and Longannnet?
We can expect more, much more of the same to come from our dear Unionists as they continue proving the Union Dividend for Scotland.
More sneakily quiet thefts like Labour redirecting the Scottish Sea Border with England 200 miles in a North Easterly direction from Berwick, taking In some of Scotlands Oil Fields, and making bathing In St Andrews Bay, bathing in English Waters, will thankfully not happen with the SNP in control of Holyrood. But we can expect more obvious thefts like the sale of Crown Estates assets like Edinburgh Army Barracks in prime property development sites.
Bearing in mind that the Crown Estate is not Royal property, but an actual British Management company, in charge of Billions of pounds of Assets. The Scottish Crown Estates assets belong in actuality to the people of Scotland, in Scotland.
What we will not see from our Unionist friends in 2012 is them making a positive case for the Union, there isn’t one.
Their idea of a positive case for the Union is Britain’s seat on Nato. The retention of Nuclear Subs parked near Glasgow.
Britain’s ability to be the Big Boy taking part in War games in Iraq, Afghanistan,Libya or Iran? And sticking their nose in,as If Britain was still an Empire.
I am not sure how they think us Scots think these are positive dividends? But they will play these as dividends, for they have nothing more to offer.
A New Year, but still the same old Cow Pats.
