Tonight I watched BBC Scotlands Newsnight programme, discussing the Scottish Referendum. No representation from anyone in the Independence movement in sight. Not a quote or comment. Nothing!
Then they went down to Corby to ask 2nd and 3rd generation Scots who live there, for their opinion. Naturally they only managed to find the ones who thought that Independence was a bad Idea. The too wee, too poor mantra repeated over and over again. The subsidy myth and how good the Union is for Scotland, with no evidence, just the statement.
Yes BBC Scotland, you are the pinnacle of impartiality and balance indeed!
They had Labour in Scotlands Westminster based Deputy Leader, Anus Sarwar spouting forth the usual regurgitation of the Unionists favourite message. I lost count on how often he used the word ‘Separation’ instead of ‘Independence’, it was either because he has some chronic allergy to saying the word ‘Independence’, or he is absolutely obsessional about the word ‘Separation’. Or possibly he is just following the cunning plan which Labour and the rest of the Unionists have struck on? Say Separation, Separatists, Separate, as often as they possibly can, and the people of Scotland will believe that Scotland is going to physically drop off the British Isles and we will be marooned somewhere in the deep Atlantic without a sail or oars until we fall off the edge of the known world, and fall into oblivion!
There Be Monsters Ahead!
So in short let me divulge the main message of Mr Sarwar and the Unionists in all conversations and interviews and debate. Neatly taken from BBC Scotland Newsnight tonight.
The message in totality was as follows :
The Seperate Seperatists are for Separation, and nothing but Separation. We the Labour Party are not Separatists, and are in no way Separate from our Tory Brethern who we support whole heartedly in calling Separatists, Separatists.
We warn you that these despicable Separatists only want Separation, and supporting Separatist causes can only result in the tragic result of being Separate!
We would never wish for the Scottish people to be isolated in their Separation, but such will be the tragic conclusion unless you do as we tell you! You are doomed you Separatists, and you are very Bad!
Hear me well, If you continue in succumbing to this madness which is consuming you. We will shout loudly and often at you, and even threaten you with John Bull, but mostly we will Shout Separatist at you, and banish you from our fraternity of Separatist Chanters Sine Die.
But mostly we will cwy and cwy and cwy…because we will be out of our cushy jobs in Lala land. Bad Separatists!!
Footnotes:
Lets play the game of counting how many times Unionist politicians use variations of the word Separate when they are Interviewed. It should be as fun as spotting Christmas trees on a car journey at Christmas time.
Ok, not that much fun!
I have just noticed a Freudian Typo of Mr Sarwars name earlier in this article, I will go back and correct it …..Sometime 😉
They have been told to use “separation”, likely be a focus groups (probably the same one that told them we like to hear about “hard working” “decent” “families” “up and down” the country, over and over again. As if no one else matters… Because we all like to think of ourselves as a part of that group, I suppose).
So yeah, if you say it over and over again “separatist” and “separation” are words that will put fear and doubt into our minds. They are negative concepts. Independence (remembering that the opposite is “dependence”), is a positive word. it’s something that hard working decent families, up and down the country are urged to strive for.
They use the word seperatists to link the SNP with the Basque separatists who were fronted bt Etta and killed and injured many civillians in the drive to gain Independence from Spain. It is the cheapest of shots at the SNP . Alex Salmond reminded a foriegn press that not so much as a bloody nose has been suffered as Scotland strives for Independence. So we must pity the likes of Lamont and Sarwar who are strightjacketed by their party not necesserally their own beliefs to spout all this seperatist nonsense. Liken the unioniosts to Dependants and we will see them back peddle.
Don’t forget other gems such as break up, break away, tear apart, destroy and divorce. Each and every one associated with terrible consequences. They carp on about ‘Do you agree’, yet bombard us daily with the most negative word associations they can dream up. You couldn’t make it up. :0)
I always wonder if the separatism fetishists talk about the American Declaration of Separation. Or if they watched Will Smith doing his thing in Separation Day. Or if they ever read The Separate. F*ckwits.
At least you separated your wise words with punctuation.
