The Truth Is

Watching Newsnight Scotland tonight, I noticed that they had wheeled out their favourite Unionist political commentator John Curtis yet again, and for the sake of their skewed idea of balance, they had former Labour Script writer Lorraine Davidson for company.
The subject under discussion was the upcoming Council elections, focusing on Glasgow in particular.
Interestingly enough not even Lorraine could feel particularly positive over Labours chances of retaining majority control over their Glasgow Kremlin in the City Chambers.
What I did notice, and I don’t know why I didn’t notice this before? Every time the Curtis spoke out came the words “The Truth Is” prior to whatever he considered to be his truth.
Now either Curtis speaks more truth than anyone in politics or he lies an incredible amount of time when he gets his many assertions wrong, as he did in the lead up to last years Holyrood elections when his projections proved to be spectacularly wrong.

But what of the other truths and assertions which have been occurring at quite a rapid rate recently?
Firstly the Coalition Government with the Tories to the fore have been having an incredibly hard time with the truth….No surprise there then.
Not only have Cameron and Co been having difficulty telling the truth over their woeful fundraising efforts for major contributors and dinners at quarter of a million a pop, for an audience and influence over policy for the super rich, such as reducing tax for the filthy rich. But Cameron has suffered memory loss too, trying to remember initially all who took part in these expensive meals. It was somewhat a matter of farce that Cameron eventually announced who they were at a speech to the Altzheimers Society.
Then with the heat on them, they decided to create a phantom petrol to deflect from their behavior, leading pubs throughout the country putting out boards saying that Beer is running out soon..Please Panic Buy. It couldn’t be much worse for the Tories. Pasty tax, Granny Tax, and announced today by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development that Britain is once more back into recession to top it off…Stark truth indeed.

Labour of course are no better in the Truth stakes nor the ludicrous gaff league. They have tried to report Alex Salmond for breaking the ministerial code for having tea with a former SNP councilor and SNP supporter who had won the lottery. Apart from the fact that this fortunate couple of people have no possibility of gaining anything from any policy the SNP might have a part in, unlike the Tory donors in Westminster. Alex provided his own tea and biscuits in Bute House and was not promising any favours whatsoever other than to try his level best to achieve Independence. A storm in teacup indeed.
Meanwhile without having to spend any money on freedom of information, Labour provided an email trail for free to show that they stuffed up by not supporting the SNP motion against the reduction of the 50p tax, and then discussing how they would cover it up, and keep it from the Scottish voters.
It couldn’t get much worse could it? Oh No it couldn’t, Oh Yes It could! We were introduced to the Bain Principle on Twitter where Willie Bain MP said “a long-standing PLP convention that we do not support SNP motions”.
We all reckoned that this has long been the case in Holyrood, but it takes it all to another level of pettiness to the detriment of all Scots voters to have this confirmed to be the case in Westminster too. ..frankly Labour are an utter disgrace to the people of Scotland.

Finally a stark Truth for Labour.
Breaking news as I conclude this article from the Bradford By Election, a place where Labour have called their own for generations….They have lost by a massive majority to George Galloway of all people, who has got close to 50% of the vote beating Labour by more than 2:1 and a 10,000 majority. He has certainly won by more than a whisker.
BBC24 could not bear to even cover the result of Bradford West which is a Public service broadcasting fail of epic proportions. An hour later and they still barely mentioned it in their headlines.
The rest were all also rans…..Nobody has any Trust in the Truth of Labour, Tory or LibDems anymore.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not even they can fool all of the people all of the time.
They have all been found out once too often, and now they and their precious Union is on its way into the dustbin of History.
Prof Curtis……That Will be the Truth!

I am not a member of any political party. I am however a strong supporter of Scots Independence. Any views which I express in this Blog are purely my own. This Blog intends to be a place where I will be putting my views on Scots Independence. It will primarily concern itself with the upcoming Referendum In Scotland. However It will also be somewhat diverse in the range of day to day issues which are evident to me in modern day Scotland. Not all of it will be political, and indeed may take me off into avenues I am not even aware of yet. Please come and join in on this journey, and any comments are welcome provided they are not abusive! All the best from a new acquaintance! Rod

  1. Now I would like to say I consider Galloway a carpetbagger, and I have had any respect for him.But fair play congratulations George, you went in at the right time, luck or skill? You have shown that Labour are still detested by their core voters in the south, and only need an alternative, I hope the people here in Scotland realise that a Labour vote is a wasted vote unless we are independent, and even then I would not back them.

    • George is an out and out chancer….The folks in Scotland know this hence his woeful result in the Holyrood election…But he can be an entertaining chancer at times, as proved when he kicked the American Senators butts for them in their own backyard.
The people of Bradford will be lucky if he turns up at Westminster any more often than one G.Brown has since the last general election.

My favourite saying AA “The truth will out”. We’ll see how much truth they can stand in the first week of May. 🙂
