Best Interests (poem)

Best Interests

You say that your Interest, is in my best Interest
and all of my best Interests are yours
But you act in my Interests, for your own selfish Interest
while you poison my interests, with your cures

You never listen to what I’m saying, for you’re too busy playing
With all my toys, which you threw out from your pram
I have been feeling quite dejected, while I’ve been neglected
But you’re all right Jack, so you don’t give a damn

But when I want my Interest, in my own Interests
You throw a hissy fit, and say you don’t agree
You say that I can’t have it, for you won’t let me do it
And you side up, with all my enemy’s you see

You’ll take all their silver, just so you can betray me
You’d see me destitute and thrown in the street
And with your forty pieces, you’ll settle in their country
and never talk to me, should we ever meet.

But now I know you, and I know where lie your Interests
and I know that your interests are never mine
So carry on with all your slander,I’ll just cheerfully meander
to build a place for my country, and doing fine.

About auldacquaintance

I am not a member of any political party. I am however a strong supporter of Scots Independence. Any views which I express in this Blog are purely my own. This Blog intends to be a place where I will be putting my views on Scots Independence. It will primarily concern itself with the upcoming Referendum In Scotland. However It will also be somewhat diverse in the range of day to day issues which are evident to me in modern day Scotland. Not all of it will be political, and indeed may take me off into avenues I am not even aware of yet. Please come and join in on this journey, and any comments are welcome provided they are not abusive! All the best from a new acquaintance! Rod
