The Natives are Revolting

The following hour and a half long video is of the recent Clydebank Trades Council meeting with a Labour MSP and Labour Councillors. It is educational to hear ordinary people talking to them and letting them know exactly what they think of Labour and the Tories and Westminster. It certainly is an uncomfortable evening for the Labour politicians, because they are getting attacked most of all. These locals all supported Labour, many for generations. If anything they feel angrier at Labour than they do at the Tories or the Lib Dems, because they didn’t expect anything much of them anyway. But the sense of utter betrayal they feel for Labour is palpable.
Jackie Bailey tries to brazen it out, but gets slaughtered.
The fact is the media, the BBC, the press should be talking to these people, but this is real politics, not the stuff they play at in front of the TV cameras and tame hand picked and controlled audiences. This is the voice of Scotland today, and it is not a happy voice at all.
I have been saying for over a year now, the people need to be able to contribute and own the Independence Referendum, not the politicians. Time to put an end to the nonsense we are hearing from politicians and media daily.

If you want to know what the people of Scotland think, or have to say? You have to let us Speak!

If you want to watch any real life tv, watch this! Listen and observe, and take note! Here is the reality of Scotland in the UK. It’s not pretty.

About auldacquaintance

I am not a member of any political party. I am however a strong supporter of Scots Independence. Any views which I express in this Blog are purely my own. This Blog intends to be a place where I will be putting my views on Scots Independence. It will primarily concern itself with the upcoming Referendum In Scotland. However It will also be somewhat diverse in the range of day to day issues which are evident to me in modern day Scotland. Not all of it will be political, and indeed may take me off into avenues I am not even aware of yet. Please come and join in on this journey, and any comments are welcome provided they are not abusive! All the best from a new acquaintance! Rod

WOW!!! What a scoop, well done AA… The truth is out at last…Labour ARE worse than the Tories..

  2. Macart says:

That is an absolute stunner of a vid. There was a real sense of rage and frustration throughout and if that room is anything to go by then Labour don’t just have problems, they have a disaster waiting to happen. This was as you say real politics with and about ordinary (or I would now say extraordinary) people.

Many thanks for this piece AA, it gives you a real sense of hope that the electorate will take their future into their own hands in 2014 and vote YES. If any folks at that meeting happen to visit this site, I’d like to say well done to them. Remember there is still a Labour group in support of independence who will fight to retain our hard won welfare and benefits.

  3. Aye I heard about the meeting, and the result nice to see and hear it.

Great stuff AA. I see the Rev has same thing.

“The fact is the media, the BBC, the press should be talking to these people, but this is real politics, not the stuff they play at in front of the TV cameras and tame hand picked and controlled audiences.”

I couldnt agree more. While The Herald has the articles “Blair ready to battle against independence” and “Michael Moore savaged by Unionist peers over EU row”… our lovely state broadcaster has done its best to ignore nearly all of this and come with the lovely angle of the Moore story with “UK’s Trident stance criticised”. Unbelieveable!

    Pravda would be proud!

    • Which Rev? Oh that Rev..Rev Stu……ha copy cat, I got there first lol

Seriously, It is good that this is being spread about…It lets people see the real Reality! Everyone needs to know what’s going on.

  5. Arbroath1320 says:

I think we all knew that there was a groundswell of revulsion against Labour in Scotlnad but we just didn’t have the proof of its existance. Thanks AA for giving us the proof. I for one do not believe that this meeting was a one off either, I reckon what we see in thois video is just the tip of the iceberg that will finaly once and for all sink the S.S. United Kingdom!

We need to spread this video around far and wide. Make sure as many people as possible see the evidence that all is not good within the Labour party. Prove to the undecideds that Labour know nothing. Anyone who still has an inkling of support for Labour must ditch this RED Tory party now and join the Labour for Independence group. THEY are the future of Labour in Scotland NOT this bunch of troughers!

  6. Arbroath1320 says:

    Just a wee update.

I congratulated wee Jackie over on Wings and thought you’d be interested in why. Well I believe she was the MSP voted to launch the Labour in Scotland Theme song for 2013! 😀

  7. David McCann says:

This video could presage the end of the Labour party in Scotland. It is quite stunning in its sheer depiction of the rage which is just under the surface in Scotland. I wonder if the tame media will pick up on it, or will they just ignore it and have the usual suspects in front of the TV screens as usual.

    • What got me was Jackie Bailie’s patronising attitude towards these people. If you watch her while people are speaking, quite often she is not in slightest bit interested in what they have to say, and is at other times engaging in conversation with the chairman.
And quite frankly her manner is atrocious.
No wonder ordinary Labour supporters are angry and frustrated beyond belief at their politicians…
Many of them who grew up in families which were Labour through and through, must feel as if they and their parents and grand parents have been utterly betrayed by those they have invested so much trust in.
Now if only they can get organised behind Labour for Independence, they can fight back and regain control of their own party, regain its Independence, and also help it to shape an Independent Scotland closer to their aspirations and political beliefs. Or at least to have a party that will stand for their beliefs in an Independent Scotland.

  8. Kate says:

There is still hope for the labour voters, LFI is the party the should take their vote to, then there will be a RENEWED Labour Party in Scotland to contest the SNP party, & what a contest that would make in Scottish Politics huh! Two parties that truly believe in Scotland, fighting one another for the better of Scotland. As it should be.

    • They can begin by forcing the agenda at their next party conference.
Personally I would like to see supporters of all political parties in Scotland doing the same.
However, I also believe that one of the first things we must do in an Independent Scotland is to create a new political system, and make it that ordinary people have some method of representation that they can have an avenue for input at all times…Not just a vote once every 4-5 years, and the rest of the time being impotent bystanders.

I sat and watched this yesterday. What shocked me was the dawning in Glasgow amongst the Labour supporters that their Labour party isn’t theirs any more. Glasgow always seemed to me to be a place where you could stick a red rosette on a monkey and it would have got voted in. If/when independence comes I wonder how many of the Labour MSPs, Councillors etc. will have the decency to resign and crawl back under the Unionist rock where they came from? Or, will they continue on as they are and pretend that nothing has changed?

    • Some of these people will pretend they really supported it all along…

      • gedguy2 says:

I suspect that there may be more of them than they wish to admit to. I also suspect that they are sitting on the fence in case it goes the way of a NO vote. The good thing about the vote is that it is secret. I think the Unionists are in for a shock.

      • I liken it to a snowball gaining momentum down a mountainside, or a wave building in the ocean..
I am not overly confident though….because we have a hell of a lot of hard work to do.
As we head through 2013…I think we will see that momentum build…by 2014 it will be really on the move.
But the hard work is really only beginning to start now. There is a long road to go yet..and a hell of a lot of sustained forward movement to build.

  10. Thanks for highlighting this – watched the first 10 mins or so, great stuff. I’m going to watch the whole thing with my carer after he’s finished watching Coronation Street. I think this will be much more dramatic and interesting viewing!

Thankyou for showing this video. I watch the normal political programs on television every evening and have become more and more annoyed and frustrated at what I’m watching. I was very worried that all Labour voters would just blindly follow the party line (I lived in a Glasgow constituency for many years and, yes, it seemed that voters would vote
anything in as long as it stood for Labour!) But this video has shown, that perhaps Labour voters are willing to think outside the box.
I am most angry with those Lab/Con/LibDem MSPs who are united in fighting against Independence. How could they not want to take all decisions and responsibilities in Scotland? The greatest problem will be to get people to understand that this is not just about the SNP, but it’s about creating an Independent Parliament for Scotland, no matter what your political views are. This video has given me some hope.

  13. Cath says:

This is great. So often when watching people like Baillie on TV and yelling at the her pointlessly, I wonder if it’s just me, or if the fact I’m pro-indy and SNP these days (both recent conversions) has meant I’ve entered a kind of echo chamber, and really no one else cares much, or Labour voters and the unions are all happily behind Better Together and waiting to strike against indy at any point.

This proves it’s wider spread which, logically, I always suspect it has to be. I remember before the 2011 election being dismayed and disgusted at the negativity and despair coming from Labour, and clearly enough other people felt that to return a huge SNP vote. Now we have constant negativity about Scotland itself, the Scottish electorate and independence. Hopefully that will have a similar result: a very big Yes vote.

I agree we do have a huge amount of work to do though, and also the unionists will throw absolutely everything and more in the way of propaganda. I suspect we’ve seen nothing yet on scares, smears and dirty tactics.

  14. Brian Hill says:

Well played AA. I watched the entire 90minutes, what a Christmas present, Labour – in particular the odious Jackie Bailey – being attacked by their own people at a Trade Union Debate – Terrific!!!
