Murder or Terrorism….what do you call it?

The news and all the online media has been going overboard at the killing of an off duty soldier the other day outside Woolwich barracks London.

It wasn’t long before the government and the media were calling this slaughter, perpetrated by a couple of individuals of African origin with London accents, an act of Islamic terrorism.
They spouted some radical fundamentalist Islamic rhetoric while they waited for the police to turn up, but were they really Islamic terrorists or were they radicalised Individuals taking matters into their own hands?

I would have one simple expression for these people, and it is not one of being terrorists, they are murderers pure and simple…and they had just committed murder in broad daylight. To call it anything more than that, is to give it a status it does not deserve…and these people are no martyrs to a cause.

What followed the government and media reaction to this event, was perhaps equally as disturbing in a different manner. A bunch of hooded racist hooligans turned up at Woolwich very shortly afterwards, an EDL facebook page got converted to spout poison and hatred about the murder, and people in their droves joined in with the racist hate fest.
Hate breeds Hate… and it has very little to with anything that calls itself religion. Most Muslims or Christians and other faith groups have no place for such actions and behaviour, but find themselves a very convenient label and cover for crackpots and those who preach hatred in the name of some God or another. Evil is Evil whatever guise it goes by.

And let us not for a moment pretend that those in government and in the media are unhappy about extreme individuals behaving in such a manner…They are the opposite in fact. They are very happy to use the actions of these minorities in order the exert more and more control over peoples lives. All too often in recent history, governments have used terrorist attacks as a pretext to further erode civil liberties.

In the hours after the murder, John Reid, the former Labour home secretary, Lord West, the former security minister, and Lord Carlile, a Lib Dem peer and a former government reviewer of counter-terrorism, all argued that the attack demonstrated the need to revive the communications data bill or “snooper’s charter”
The Independent reports that Theresa May, who has previously accused opponents of the bill of “putting politics before people’s lives”, is “determined” to re enact the bill in its original form, which would require internet service providers to retain details of every phone call, email and website visit for at least a year.

If you have been watching carefully how the media and government reports over the past couple of years, what you will see has been a gradual ramping up of division and hatred in British society. If the masses are divided they cannot be in a fit state to collectively protest over the actions of the rich and powerful. Get the plebs to fight amongst themselves and its an easy street for those who are the real sociopaths in our society.

Why do you think that the British papers and news has been spreading this poison which condones the actions of a government which is attacking the welfare of the unemployed, the working poor, the disabled, the homeless, and the immigrant while letting off huge corporations and financial institutions away with financial murder. Which we all are forced to pay for, while they continue on their merry old way.

Why do you think there has been this sudden upsurge of UKIP and the extreme Right in England, but they are as welcome as a rotting diseased corpse in Scotland?

Why do you think that so many of the Westminster government want us removed from Europe and the Article of Human Rights?

And do you honestly think that the likes of these sociopaths could get away with that daylight attack in Glasgow without challenge? I suspect we wouldn’t have seen Glaswegians standing idly by and filming and chatting with them…. Think back to the response to the Glasgow Airport attack…bampot car bombers getting their baws booted in!

What we don’t see so readily reported in the headline news, was on the same day in England, a group of homeless people sheltering in a deserted derelict swimming pool, being attacked by the police, their sleeping bags and foodstuffs confiscated, and left to make their way elsewhere without shelter and food.

We don’t so readily hear of the ten year old Afghan boy stabbed to death by a drunken British soldier.

Nor that the British Government approved their forces to train Bangladeshi terror and murder squads, which America wouldn’t even have anything to do with openly.

The question asked is, who are the terrorists? Who are the murderers? There are far more than you might like to imagine, and not all so obvious. Sometimes evil wears a very plausible authoritative likeable face.

Any decent society, surely must work together and create a better more understanding dialogue and conditions for all of its people, no matter their status, their religion, their colour or gender.
The Uk is fast becoming a society which I for one don’t want to be part of.

  1. Ian says:

Couldn’t agree with you more Rod – it was murder, pure & simple.

  2. David McCann says:

AS the American writer H. L. Mencken wrote:
‘The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.’

  3. Kate says:

Yep, MURDER pure & simple by local radicalised scum, now given all the publicity they could have asked for.

  4. cynicalHighlander says:

Drones are terrorist tools and terrorists are those that use them for political purposes and these guys are nothing more than disenfranchised people living in a failing democracy.

  5. Shinty says:

Excellent article. Should be given a far wider audience.

  6. Tris says:

Absolutely agree. To indicate that they are fighting for a cause dignifies them in a way that they do not deserve. They are murderers pure and simple.

After all, Islam will not be served in any way by this. Au contraire.

Nothing can excuse the random murder of a lad of (I think) 21. But I can’t help feel that when Mr Blair went after his Congressional Medal by agreeing to do whatever the Neo-cons in Washington wanted, no matter how many dies; no matter how ill prepared and ill conceived the scheme was, he laid the kindling for a fire that will burn for a very long time.

You simply, even if you are British, go into a country, bomb, kill, maim, destroy, and leave it 10 years later, a totally failed state, and expect people to say… “oh well, that’s alright them, after all, they are white and British and they clearly know best, about everything. We’ll just get on the best we can with the mess, the chaos and the privations”.

And you’re right. They have played into the right wingers’ hands. Dr Reid and Theresa May will be salivating at the thought of the restrictions they will be able to apply to us “for our own good”.

Get us out of here, please. We are playing with situations that we are far too stupid to understand.

  7. Clare Tereasa Gallagher says:

I totally agree with everything you’ve said! I’m absolutely appalled, and very saddened by the events after the murder of the soldier! This was NOT a TERROR attack, you’re quite right, it was a callous cold blooded murder! The TERROR attack was perpetrated by the EDL!! What a shocking display of thuggery, and sheer racist hatred!!

  8. David Lee says:

It seems the CPS are pushing to have them tried on terrorism charges rather than straight murder, which seems like an odd choice.

There’s surely an absolutely open and shut case for murder (what with the dozens of eyewitnesses, bloodied hands and taped confessions), so I don’t understand why they’re taking the terrorism route. As others have said, if anything it almost plays into their hands by portraying it as a political act, rather than the vicious murder it surely was.
