Where Even The Blind Can See

There are none so blind that cannot see, and there are none so deaf that will not hear, and none so dumb that will not speak.

One would have thought that there is nobody who cannot see and value the simple concept of Independence and autonomy, and yet for a large chunk of Scotland if the opinion polls are to be believed, there is a majority of Scots who are either against the concept or still undecided about it. Now that state of affairs does not ring true to me, and yet it would seem to be the case, how can this possibly be?
Is it really a case of Scots being incredibly thick, or are we the most gullible people on the planet? I honestly do not think that either of these statements are true, but should the vote be against Independence come September 19th then I will have to quickly revise that impression,as to vote against our own Independence will be one of the most collective expressions of stupidity that any people will have ever made. To vote against their own Independence, to vote against their own autonomy,to abrogate responsibility and hand that one singular power that every Individual has over to someone else is madness of the highest order! Yet if the Biased broadcasters and state media are to be believed, there are queues of us lining up like flocks of sheep to do just that?

Why should we not vote for Independence, when every other Independent nation on earth would not have it otherwise, and Indeed historically peoples have gone to war to fight for it, the colonists of the Americas are a prime case in point, they fought for their freedom and Independence from the British Empire, and won. Indeed at the forefront of American Independence were the Scots, they were the ones who drafted the American declaration of Independence and based it on the declaration of Arbroath.
Bit by bit the British Empire has collapsed, Australia,New Zealand,Canada and the rest have all become Independent and are doing alright thanks. Yet somehow or another we are to believe that Independence equates to Separation and is a Bad thing? It is neither separation nor a bad thing, these countries still take their place in the world and have not separated from anyone, and Indeed they have established themselves very well.
New Zealand was finally cut loose in the 1970’s, not because they particularly wanted it, but rather because they and others had run out of usefulness to Britain. The UK when it joined the Common Market cut off their trading lines with the Commonwealth, and New Zealand and others had to find new and alternative routes of trade. You don’t see the Kiwis complaining now do you? They are not the basket case Westminster says Scotland will be if we go for Independence. So why should Scotland be any different from any other small Independent country? Are we so uniquely inept and hopeless? Given our wealth of resources we would have to be worse than that, we would have to be the village idiots of the world to make a pigs ear of what we have got! Yet we are to believe just that, according to Westminster and Better Together….You do realise that they are calling us all useless Idiots dont you?

Well think on….When you hear all the negative things that they say about Scotland and the Scottish government on the TV, in the newspapers, the Westminster party politicians, they are talking about YOU! After all you are the clowns who voted in a government who you knew would ask for this referendum. Even if you didn’t vote for it, every negative thing they say about Scotlands inability to look after ourselves is by extension about you!

When they say that Scotland is too wee, too poor and too stupid, and that Scotland is dependent on Westminster handouts….They are not only belittling Scotland, they are belittling you and calling you a scrounger too!

Whats more…..They are lying through their teeth…..Aren’t they?

About auldacquaintance

I am not a member of any political party. I am however a strong supporter of Scots Independence. Any views which I express in this Blog are purely my own. This Blog intends to be a place where I will be putting my views on Scots Independence. It will primarily concern itself with the upcoming Referendum In Scotland. However It will also be somewhat diverse in the range of day to day issues which are evident to me in modern day Scotland. Not all of it will be political, and indeed may take me off into avenues I am not even aware of yet. Please come and join in on this journey, and any comments are welcome provided they are not abusive! All the best from a new acquaintance! Rod

I do enjoy your thoughts Rodmac. I am almost always in complete agreement.

“Is it really a case of Scots being incredibly thick, or are we the most gullible people on the planet?”

More like all just misled and brainwashed! Things are changing though 🙂

I`ve come to realize that a YES vote “should” happen if out of nothing else but self respect for ourselves.
Like I just read above, we have been insulted, belittled and lied to only to knock our self confidence in ourselves so that Westminster can pick our pockets until there is nothing left to pick then we will be kicked aside and left in such a sorry state that it`ll take years to catch up with the rest of comparative nations.
I`am not kidding either when I say that if there`s a no vote I will leave Scotland like many others before me partly for better opportunities and partly because I will sadly have lost respect in something I have believed in for so long.
I will not stay to watch what becomes of Scotland post a NO vote because it will probably make the Thatcher years look like a picnic in the park. They will force on Scotland changes through cuts that will turn Scot`s against Scot`s probably along class lines like our English neighbours and the Labour Party will be the ones pushing those agenda`s the hardest.

Could not have put it better myself
Why can’t we get people like you on the
    Telly ?

    • Reider O'Doom says:

Eloquent YES advocates being allowed on the telly in order to put forward the arguments for independence in a clear, concise and coherent way?
As long as the biased broadcasters have their way this is not going to happen. Despite this, we are slowling winning.
Alec Salmond knew what he was doing when the Referendum date was set so far in the future. It will take that long for YES to get its massage across to the people of Scotland against the wishes and best efforts of the MSM.
