Ohhh Lets Do the Hokey Cokey again!

Dear God..I am losing the will to live!
On and on and on and On and on and On! Will these damn Better Together politicians stop forever blethering nonsense about Europe?
Day after Day, Night after Night, Week after Week! It’s never ending. Same old tosh..same old faces, same false claims, same garbage about uncertainty!!
We live in an uncertain world..Live with it!
It’s like watching some perverse political version of the Hokey Cokey.

It was happening again yesterday…This time on the BBC’s Daily Politics programme. They had Alistair (Isn’t he a darling) Darling as acting garbage speaker for the Better Together campaign, up against Blair Jenkins of the YES Campaign.
Darling spouted the same old drivel that he always spouts..absolutely nothing new to offer. Scare stories about border posts, being forced to join the Euro, and having to reapply for membership, which according to him could take years!
He went on a rant about the SNP and legal advice, and the BBC interviewer being ever helpful tried to put his allegations to Blair Jenkins..Nil Points!
Blair in his ever so polite and gentle way simply reminded them that neither he nor the YES campaign speak to, or for the Scottish Government… Darling was scuppered.. All the Better Together campaign have been trying to do is constantly attack Alex Salmond and the SNP, not address the issue of Independence, and without the SNP to attack they are clueless.
Blair had Darling on the ropes over the length of time it would take to integrate Scotland as an Independent Country in Europe, he had him down on Border controls…and had him out for the count by taking him to task over his Euro lies. No wonder Darling doesn’t want to have proper debate with Blair Jenkins..He and the Better Together campaign would be slaughtered.

Because they have no clue, and no vision for Scotland, and can’t seriously argue against Independence, all they have left is the same old and tired and repetitive smokescreens over process.
And so their political version of the Hokey Cokey goes on in an ever more frantic manner. Utilising the version once used in the wartime comedy series Allo Allo

You put your left boot in
You take your left boot out
You do a lot of shouting
And you shake your fist about
You light a little smokey
And you burn down the town
That’s what it’s all about

Alistair Darling and the Better Together Band, doing the Hokey Cokey, with a bonus link for the Grouch Song. Enjoy!

BBC Daily Politics:

Some Basic Facts of Life:
We Scots have been European Citizens for the past 40years..and there is no mechanism for revoking our citizenship.

Scotland as a result of our political union with the UK, became part of Europe..There is no mechanism for Kicking Scotland out, should we dissolve that political union.

As we are one of the two original signatories of the Treaty of Union, we are not of inferior status to the rest of the Union…So if they could kick us out, they would also have to kick the rest of the UK out too!
That aint going to happen.

Nor could they kick Scotland out,and somehow still have all the Scots citizens of Europe in!

what we will have to do, is enter into negotiations on new terms, such as Increased representation from 6 to 12 MEPS, and for our own representation in talks and discussions over policy…Such as Fishing quotas etc,

We will not have to join the Euro! Unless we want to meet the terms of being in it,and actually want to join.

It would be absolutely insane to think that the EU wouldn’t want to have its greatest Oil and Gas producer.
Or for it to lose access the biggest Fishing grounds in Europe, or to lose access to 30% of its Beef supplies, and so on.

It is utter tosh to even suggest that there will be border posts between Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Can you see any between Ireland and the UK?

And just to put the tin lid on it..David Cameron was reported at the same time yesterday, saying the complete opposite that Alistair Darling was telling us Scots.

From Todays Sun:

“JOINING the Euro is not compulsory even for countries who have no legal opt-out, David Cameron revealed yesterday.

The PM’s admission is a blow for the anti-independence No campaign, who claim Scotland would be forced to sign up to the single currency as a condition of EU membership.

Speaking yesterday, Mr Cameron said: “Not all countries in the European Union will join the Euro. Britain has an absolute opt out. There is no obligation on us to join the Euro.

“But, I believe, there are other countries in the EU who have no immediate or longer than that prospects of joining the Euro and I think that is the important point.”

Last September, Bulgaria opted out of Euro membership saying there were no benefits to membership “only costs”.

So there we have it..Tell a load of porkies to the Scots about having to join the Euro, but tell the rest of Britain the complete opposite…They can’t both be right can they?
It must surely be an obscure Special clause in the European rule book which only applies to uppity Scots.

Ahhh you couldn’t make it up! Well I suppose you could if you are Better Together.

But Oh Hell….Lets just do the Hokey Cokey again instead! We can’t get enough of it.

About auldacquaintance

I am not a member of any political party. I am however a strong supporter of Scots Independence. Any views which I express in this Blog are purely my own. This Blog intends to be a place where I will be putting my views on Scots Independence. It will primarily concern itself with the upcoming Referendum In Scotland. However It will also be somewhat diverse in the range of day to day issues which are evident to me in modern day Scotland. Not all of it will be political, and indeed may take me off into avenues I am not even aware of yet. Please come and join in on this journey, and any comments are welcome provided they are not abusive! All the best from a new acquaintance! Rod

No need to lose the will to live, Rod. Darling will be quite happy just to make some other punters lose the will to vote. It’s clear that the No campaign has no interest in mounting a genuine debate and it’s going to keep this bullshit going for as long as possible – no wonder they fought so hard for a short process. Key moment is definitely when Mr Jenkins directly challenges Darling to abandon a specific lie he is peddling and he ducks away from doing so. The Holyrood yapping dogs would clobber Salmond for weeks on end over that sort of thing, calling for emergency statements and resignations. We got a clear measure of Darling’s stature in this interview and, sadly, an insight into the dishonest approach he’s going to continue to spearhead.

One thing for which you can give the No campaign credit is that the Tory/Labour tag team have worked out how best to use their respective strengths – Tories creeping around in the background pulling the strings, Labour out front lying through their teeth for them.

Looking forward in great hope to the multi-voiced Yes campaign truly making itself the centre of things in 2013 and not allowing the SNP to remain the focus.

  2. The No campaign want Scots to enter the polling booths in 2014 believing a load of lies. It’s absolutely disgusting.

  3. I also watched the ” interview” Darling another liar with self-interest being his only aim.Blair did deliver the knock-out blow, but he is wasted taking on such a light-weight as Darling.

  4. Marian says:

There’s nothing that will derail Darling’s NO campaign more than people like Blair Jenkins appearing on TV arguing for independence, for the whole unionist campaign is built on trying to prove that independence is the sole brainchild of Alex Salmond and a few others in the SNP and no one else.

This is why they have spent so much time and effort smearing and vilifying the SNP leadership since their “campaign” started.

One of the very best weapons the Yes campaign can deploy is to have a long line of non SNP people like Blair Jenkins appearing on TV making eloquent arguments in favour of independence.

  5. Arbroath1320 says:

Inbteresting howe Darling spewed his usual lie about Scotyland HAVING to join the Euro but when challenged by Blair he reverts to three coutries “applying” to join the Euro. Hmm whatever happened to the “have to join” mantra there I wonder. As usual the BBC interviewer is left with an open goal to shoot at Darling with here and ………NOTHING she wanders away, best not upset her best buddy too much I guess.
